Running, Fishing

Saturday was a fun but early day.  Our church was helping sponsor a local running race which Ron ran.  I and the kids helped cheer on our team of runners.  It was a lot of fun seeing so many people we knew-usually it is only Ron.  The only thing that would have been better was racing Ron although he would have smoked me, somehow he always manages to pull out some crazy times without doing hard training.  He did great, about 22 min around 17th overall and second in his age category....the forty year old, yikes!  Congrats to my friend who ran the whole 5km 5months pregnant!  It was perfect weather making for a fun morning.  After crashing on the couch the day quickly warmed up we watched the kids have fun making forts out of some boxes Ron had.  With is being such a nice afternoon we decided to head out to the park and do a little fishing.  It is always a lot of work-for Ron mostly and seems like quite a hassle but the kids always get such a kick out of catching a fish.  Thankfully we did catch some, a grand totally of three!  I do have to say that between James endless runny nose, sneezing and the kids covered in dirt from just being around the pond we were a filthy bunch.  I am just amazed at how dirty the kids can get-really how do people leave the park with their kids legs free of dirt and hair still on place???  I have yet to figure it out.

We had lots of fun cheering everyone on-Go Team Crossing!

On a side note today was the day of my Half Marathon, it has come and gone-no goal accomplished.  The one positive is that my foot is getting better, hopefully I can get out soon.  Always funny how the only thing you notice is what you can't have or do....all I see lately is people running!
We had lots of fun watching these baby ducks swim with their momma

This is what I found when I decided to take a walk around the pond-it still makes me shiver!  Hope that momma duck guards her babies.

The kids made sure to show their fish to James-mostly by shoving it in his face.
