It was all about seeing fireworks and trying to stay cool this fourth. The Sunday was Rockets over Rhema...best fireworks I have ever seen and always worth dealing the the crowds to see. This year we had our parking down and our spot...right in front of the lot where they were shooting them off. So close! So Loud!
On the actual fourth Ron and I biked the 44 on the fourth with young life...actually a lot of other bikers showed up, a couple hundred and it turned out to be a hard fast ride with about 50 miles for the morning. We loaded up after biking and headed out to the blue hole. A spring fed stream that stays cool and is about the only stream with water in it this time of year. Ron did another 50 ride in the afternoon while we hung out and caught crawfish and minnows. It was a long hot, hilly ride for Ron and I didn't have cell service. After three hours we were a bit concerned but he thankfully managed his way back before cramping up. No biking pictures...just imagine biking in 98 degree heat, really just a lot of sweat. Most annoying is my eyelids kept sweating and dripping in my eyes.
We amazingly found a spot with some shade and next to the water...there were so many people here.
The catch of the day...a sucker fish they discovered hanging out in the ledge right where we sat. They managed to catch it with our little dollar store nets.
We ended the day with a bike ride to the bridge in Jenks and watching firework there...although watching the show and firework over the Capital in Washington DC on TVwas pretty special as well.
A fun show but everyone was disappointed in the finale...according to them, there was non, but then again Rockets over Rhema sets the expectations pretty high.
Summer is going on by...crazy that we only have about 6 wks left, which I am not telling the kids. We have had a couple weeks home spent with fun and some work which the kids hate. It is always a chore having Brayden do anything with the family these days-the teenage world of games and electronics is exhausting. School reading assignments are slowly getting done and we managed to finish the library reading program in hopes of actually using some of the coupons this year.
This morning was all about a bike ride to beat the heat in the morning...donuts are always a great motivator.
These three tackled the soccer field for a week... ended up being super hot and humid but they pushed through and did a great job. James won the award for best player in his group for the week. Brayden was doing workout at school these past couple weeks along with some personal soccer lessons...which if I would have tried them I think they would have killed me or at
least caused me to throw-up. Lot of ladder work and push-ups.
Last pictures, party for the Sting Rays. They ended a great season with a pool party and a first place trophy.
Love these girls...they have been over a couple time this summer to just hangout and swim. So great meeting family's and having our kids grow up together.
Becca is still the baker in the house...this morning it was all about her stack of waffles, and then topping them with strawberries and whip cream.
A little sewing...this project was fun and easy! Some drawstring bags.
This was a fun thing for everyone...die-dye. Messy but always exciting waiting to take off the bands and see what your design really looks like.
Daddy's project...a paper airplane maker made with parts cut from the lazer cutter at the library. This took some work and lots of issues with kids not wanting to help. Sometimes doing this together is quite hard! Don't let the smiles fool you, although girls and whole lot easier than boys this summer.
We did managed to use our coupons for the Tulsa Air and Space Museum before the kids head off to camp. Interesting but also a bit sad as it seems like a lot of history the kids don't know...with no shuttle program their interest seems low and the technology seems so old.
Some old-fashioned fun. The girls where into the cats cradle for a while and we decided to try this for fun.
