So we are again back in MI. Not a bad thing seeing as it was going to be a scorching weekend in Tulsa. The drive went smoothly, we decided to drive during the day this time. Something I usually like to avoid-sleeping kids are much easier for me to deal with. We did a lot of video's, snacks and a few more rest area stops than normal but we managed. I was a little worried when we had only been on the road for a little while and Brayden yelled at me that he couldn't hear the video. Very annoying as he yells everything when he is wearing his headphones. I told him that his volume was loud enough and he was just going to have to live with it. He kept telling me it was not working so I finally grabbed his headphones and put them on my ears. Okay, I had to eat my words....only music no voices. You would think I could figure this one out but after playing with every button on my console and then the rear console I was making no headway, only in the frustration department. After pulling over and getting very angry at the sound system in the vehicle we managed to determine it had something to do with the connection and after rigging up a looser connection with some tape it worked. The things that go wrong always are the things that frustrate me the most, not a great start. The rest of the drive went well, oh-yes we did take the animals and I think they are more content than myself for the thirteen hours.
Today Ron kept busy with my brother Doug doing a little golf and then taking the kids to the driving range. I managed a typical morning with the kids, park and a little swimming. It is beautiful here, everything is green and the flowers are in full bloom. We all completed our run, even Doug got out to keep up with Ron. A wonderful change to run in 80 degree's.
Tonight was the start of the big party weekend with family/friends. We enjoyed time hanging out and Brayden loved trying to keep up with the older kids. Brayden tried a game of kick ball but after seeing some of the big kids get nailed by the ball he decided the game was not for him. Becca's favorite event was the big ice cream cooler. There was about 10 toppings and she helped herself to about 2 double helpings of sprinkles. Andrea was the big flirt that she can be, full of smiles, even wanting to go to complete strangers until she was in their arms then it was a different story. All in all a very fun evening-fun seeing people and kids I have not seen in years, crazy how time goes!
