I find it hard to believe that another week has come and gone. The sun is still shining, oh how I love seeing the blue sky every morning, even with a burn notice and the farmers longing for rain this fall season is still one of my favorites. The lack of updates this week was for lack of nothing special to report. The routine of the week was the same. Brayden is doing awesome at his work after a hard start to the year, actually passing his spelling test early-the best part is that we don't need to study the rest of the week, which he loves. He amazes me at his ability to memorize bible verses, he now learns his weekly verse about a day or two before I can recite it back to him. Becca and Andrea are the best kids and it amazed me this week how well the girls did at entertaining James during a mom and me cub scout meeting. I guess I set my expectation of the kids a little too low, not knowing what I was going to do with the kids during these meetings worried me-turns out they learned fast and now have a little routine of artwork, snacks and exploration walks with James, they are just the best! Best of all this week was my routine being thrown out the window and enjoying a surprise visit from some good friends. Funny thing how I worry about disapointing the kids with a change of plans.....in turn they loved it, and are so up for anything it made my heart full....because this is how I love to live, somehow the schedule of life seemed to be taking over. Yesterday we ended up taking the kids to Ron's annual work party, usually we have a sitter but not this year. They ended up being great and half way through the evening Brayden looked at me and said "this is a GREAT party, a GREAT way to spend the evening!" (and it was not at all geared for kids,-they thought the shot glasses made the best cups) This was after Becca dissapointingly realized that the magarita machine was not a slushy machine-very funny. The also got to watch their first Metro Christian Football game. Brayden was intense, on Rons lap trying to learn the game. Becca and Andrea were three rows up giggling with a bunch of girlfriends. We are going to have to keep close tabs on Andrea-she is a stong free spirit and not at all afraid to follow the cowd. All in all it has been a great week, the kids have had a lot of fun-new experiences which is good for them and some good reminders of balence for myself.
We helped out at the Jenks food bank this morning-something new for them...a perfect job for the kids, they all loved sorting and organizing, amazing what they can do when given a little guidence!
After watching Brayden's soccer, a touph game and then some highly competitive tennis we headed out for a little ride. I commented to Ron that picking up and moving out with the kids...bikes was getting a little easier. He looked at me and then pointed out to me that we had to come in two vehicles.
