Naughty and Nice

In our household this week I would have to rephrase this saying to include girls and boys and re-word to include horribly frustrating and terribly sweet. This has been our week, full of pushing, talking back, yelling....general unpleasant, unacceptable behavior. At the same time there has been those moments of sweet kisses, I love you or genuine love and concern shown for each other. So after getting just fed up with yelling, constant warning on my part and just in general feeling like I was about to lose it about every other afternoon today I decided no more nice guy! After some typical fighting which escalated into screaming, leading to the toy that was in dispute getting torn apart I decided no more warnings or piddly little consequences...Brayden lost all video privileges and spend a whole 30 min in his room with the door closed. This might have been bad enough but I let Becca sit in the living room and watch her own video-something has got to get through that little guys' head!!! Ron actually came home in the middle of the punishment stage and when he went to check on Brayden he found him cleaning up his room (his idea)...for money of course. Needless to say we did have a pretty good evening, unfortunately for me this means I have to keep this up and I hate being the bad guy all the time. The sweet thing that did come out of today was after all out unhappiness and general madness Brayden decided that he needed to do a little sweet talking was full of hugs and I love you's, which Becca quickly copied. I know they were just trying to butter me up but at the end of a long day I didn't really care, and they all got lots of praise and love right back, a little buttering up might not be too bad for them as well!

With all that said we did have fun this week. We spent a lot of time outdoors as the weather is just beautiful-we love fall. The kids helped plant flowers yesterday, lasting about 5 min before they decided that it was not as fun as playing basketball with the neighbor girls. This evening we had a little picnic and tried to catch some of Tulsa's lovely catfish. It was a lot of fun and we did manage to pull in a couple. The kids expressions are so fun to watch. Becca had the most fun chasing ducks away by yelling at the top of her lungs and running full out at them-they must have been hungry because they wouldn't leave us alone.

Thankfully the kids do remain healthy, some running noses and the occasional cough but it is nice to have three sick-free kids, although I know our time will come!

Becca was full of kisses..I don't know how much they mean if she is willing to kiss a fish!

Fun blog to read. I always had to be the not so fun guy at school too. You definitely get sick of warnings. You do have sweet kids though--even ones that kiss a fish-yuck! Give them all a hug from me :) Hope you have a nice Friday too.

What's with the glove holding the fish? It looks like Brayden is more brave than Ron.
