Beth and I have been training for the 5/3 River Bank Run on May 10. I am going to run the 25km and Beth the 10km. We both find that by training for a specific race we are able to keep up on our running. With work, kids, and our daily activities it is often hard for both of us to fit in a run. We have figured out haw we can both run with the kids by putting all three kids in the double stroller.

I have been keeping a running log for the past couple years as I like to collect data and analyze the data keeping track of the distance, pace, and heart rate. Last year a bought a Garmin 405, this is a GPS watch that records all of this information and stores it on the computer. Below is a graph showing pace and heart rate over a 8 mile run to Hunter Park that I like to use as a fitness test run. It has a number of hills and is a challenging run.

This is a graph of a run that Beth ran at Lafortune Park, a 5km loop. As you can see she really pushes her heart rate.
Two years ago when we drove up to Michigan for Tulip Time I ran the 25km and Beth ran the 5km. It was a very wet and rainy race. Doug and I were running and both of us started out a little to fast and died toward the end of the race. I have to add that I beat Doug by about 30 seconds.
If you would like to cheer us on this year the 10km starts at 7:30 and the 25km starts at 8:00. My sisters Amy and Tracy are also going to run.
