Oil

Learning about the drilling world has been very interesting. There are many oil workers out there who spend much of their day/evening in a trailer monitoring this thing they call the rig/dog house. What a life-2wks in a trailer, most of the time in the middle of no where. It really is how you imagine it! Mud everywhere/including the drillers, piles of pipe, a huge pit of mud/water, cable's running everywhere and about 2-4 trailers surrounding the tower. It can be a slow and tedious process.. drill bits need changing, pipe needs connecting, and many times tools need exchanging or fixing. Modern technology is amazing, (not always problem free but still amazing) The workers are able to monitor electronically how fast and where they are drilling much of the time off site. Okay that is about as in depth as I can go. For more info the geologist in the family is going to need to write in!
We spent the day enjoying some wonderful spring weather. The donut store was calling our name this morning and we all enjoyed some good donuts, although no apple fritters or sprinkles by the time we made it there. I am not sure who the crazy people are who get up at 6am on a Sat and gobble up all the good donuts but they are not us!
The kids and I enjoyed a nice bike ride this afternoon, complete with running commentary by Brayden. I really don't think he stopped talking the entire 3 mile loop. He points out every little detail-flowers...loud race cars...other bikers...bugs...dogs...trash..the list is endless. Becca and Andrea enjoy the view from the pull behind trailer. Becca was very happy as she got a bag of chips all to herself! I do have to admit I am not as coordinated as Ron and in the process of trying to hold Brayden in anticipation of crossing a street I almost took him out! Actually I almost rode over him. Brayden said (after a good scream)....it's okay mommy, practice, I fell with daddy too" Okay so I didn't feel so bad after that.
We were able to spend some time in the backyard finally-still a little muddy from our past rain but playable. Both kids were excited to see our sunflower seeds poking through the ground. Brayden was so excited he told some complete stranger in Kohl's all about his sunflowers. Thankfully they humored him and acted very interested. Both kids love the swing set and sand box or should I say mud box. I went outside to find Becca up on the swing set platform yelling SHARKS!! SHARKS!!! and Brayden yelling ANCHORS AWAY, (what is it with yelling.) Both kids were just letting their imaginations run-so fun to see.
We concluded the day with much needed showers as you can see from little miss Becca's dirty hands-I will let you imagine how Brayden looked!
