Fun Days

Spring has come to stay, windows are wide open and ceiling fans running.  I love all the fresh air moving through the house.  It is always a short season before the air conditioner takes over.  Just a quick update on what Ron and I have been up to...beside trying to keep up with the kids.  Both of us have been doing a lot of exercising.  Ron is dropping weight....me not so much, typical!  Anyway, Ron has been riding Saturday mornings with the area young life group.  Last week they put in fifty miles, this week a hard thirty.  There is an Internet program that saves rides/routes and then keeps track of certain sections along the routes and your time, ranking it against other biking who have biked the same route.  It is a fun incentive for Ron, competitive with all the great bike riders in town.  On top of biking on Saturdays, biking to and from work he has also been running on his lunch hours and some on the weekends.  I have been doing a lot of running and swimming.  This weekend I was able to run 15miles-slow and long as I call it, no PR to post. Ron thinks I like to run long to just have an excuse to get out of the house for two hours.  We are hoping to both be able to do the upcoming sprint triathlon, Ron is headed down to Texas the end of the month with a bunch guys to tackle a Tough Mudder Race (crazy...look it up on line!).  Anyway, we find it is nice to both have personal goals to help with never endless goal of parenting.

This weekend is the beginning of Spring Break and we are ready to relax.  No big plans, maybe some camping later in the week but just being able to move at our own pace has been wonderful.  No rushing bedtime, no cramming in reading or feeling guilty over last minute bible study or homework....sometimes it is nice to just kick back and relax, even if it is at home!

Baseball season is in full swing and it has been a couple weeks of beautiful evening/afternoons at the ball field.  Saturday the boys had their first practice scrimmage...games start in a couple weeks.  The girls love just hanging out-Becca was into cheering leading posing, James just into balls.

I realized that I don't think I like green a whole lot, considering non of us wore anything significantly green on Saturday-it really didn't even cross my mind until I saw some pictures of a race and wondered why everyone was wearing green.  Hope everyone enjoyed a shamrock shake this  season-we sure all did...a couple times!  This was our celebration for St Patricks Day...or whatever.  Anyway, brownie Sunday's with green frosting.

Today was a great day to get out and play, warm but cloudy.  We did a lot of playing around while Ron did a little running....fast running, 7:30/mile- for 8miles crazy!  We decided to head to some tennis courts and hit with the kids-madness.  Ron on ones side hitting balls, me on the other side helping Becca swing, trying not to get hit by Brayden swinging like a maniac, laughing a James who was guarding the net trying to swing and any and everything and yelling at Andrea it help pick up the balls.  It turned out nice as they all drifted off to the playground and Ron and I were able to hit.  Actually, probably not so nice for Ron as I really stink but nice to do something different together.
