SMALL STEPS FORWARD

We have decided to give camping a try. Seeing my sister was able to make it through the night with a nine month old, we can try again. (memories of sitting in a chair in the middle of the night in the middle of a dark camp ground with a crying baby.....then packing up at 2am and driving home are ones I am hoping don't ever repeat themselves!)

The kids are super excited.

It seems lately that most of the things we have had to do have been out of necessity, not necessarily because it is something Ron or I have chosen to do. Two things come to mind this weekend.

You would think that we would be moving out of the diaper stage in our house. It seems instead that we have moved into the pull-up stage, which is almost as deadly as the diaper stage. I am convinced that pull ups are made by company's to suck mom's such as myself into the grey area of having potty trained kids but not totally, meaning-not night time trained. I am sure that if there were no such things I would have had to deal with the issue much sooner. Instead I keep buying pull-ups and am just thankful all are in bed and I don't have to get up to change sheets (expect for the time Andrea decides she like to be totally naked in bed....why????). Well, as usual we ran out this past week and I just kept forgetting to go to store to get them and when evening would roll around the grocery store is the last place I was willing to go. Poor Becca was wearing Andrea's diapers and seeing as they were absolutely not fitting Brayden I figured it was time to night potty train. For everyone out there whose kids wake up with dry diapers.....BE THANKFUL, because none of mine have. This is the reason why I dread having Brayden sleep in his undies. Well, all my procrastination was not needed, and worrying about wet sheets. Brayden has made it two nights without any accidents. He is pretty proud of himself. I don't know if he is sleeping the greatest-he has been up about two times and ends up sleeping on the floor in our room by mid morning....but he is dry. Thanks to a cousin who is a little older because he wants to be just like Micah and not wear pull-ups. Now I just had to get up the determination to try the same with Becca. I think I will rely on the pull-ups a little longer.

The other thing has been sippy cups. You would think I would have a ton but some how this weekend I had one and it was in the car. Why I think Andrea needs one I don't know, but she is now learning to drink by herself from a regular cup. I realize she can do this pretty well, and could have tried much sooner....and stopped buying replacement cups.

SOOOOO, after the past couple of days I am thinking there is probably a lot more kid/baby stuff that I think is so useful/handy but in reality it is just more stuff and clutter for me to keep track of, which I obviously don't do. Seeing the big grin on Andrea's face and Brayden's face was just the best when they accomplished what they did this weekend.

Very cute! I didn't know that they made tents with "kiddie doors" :)
