CAMPING WEEKEND

This holiday weekend we headed out to Leasburg Missouri. Lets just say it was quite an adventure. We arrived to a campground that obviously had been underwater not too long ago. The nice grassy site with cement pad I envisioned was a muddy, gravely site that didn't smell all that great. I guess I didn't matter since the kids didn't seem to notice and we so excited to be there. Thankfully my parents had their trailer which helped during the rainy moments of the trip.

This was our campsite, complete with cement block coed bathrooms.....nothing like the ads online! The first time I took Becca to the bathroom we went in and it smelled horrible like cigarette smoke-I was actually thinking of just finding a bush outside! Becca looked at me and said, "hurry up, we are going to die....." my thoughts exactly!

The kids did actually sleep great in the tent and we all did stay dry. We had a wonderful breakfast the first morning then headed out to the state park....which was beautiful, why I didn't get a site there????? We took a cave tour and since it was raining we ended up being the only ones there for the tour. It was a large cave interesting to us....not so much Andrea who decided it was nap time about half way into the cave. Becca did great even though she was not too sure of walking in the dark with flashlights, although when we decided to see true darkness she was first to yell-turn the lights on!

Okay, This is what I found taking Becca to the "NICE" bathrooms at the state park. Obviously it didn't phase Brayden in the least!

Ron took a short canoe ride with my dad and Brayden the first day. We all headed out on the second day for a fun outing on the river.

Along out river ride we stopped to explore a cave. It was a lot of fun, clear, cold spring water flowing out of the cave. You could feel the cold air coming down the river bank.

We all ventured a little way in, up a little water fall until our feet felt like ice. Even Becca made her way into the darkness.

We managed a fun lunch along the river before the thunderstorms caught up with us.

This is Brayden's little buddy for the weekend. We actually came home with two little baby turtles...we will see how long they last. He was super excited to catch them both.

Brayden and Grandpa doing a little floating in the Meremac River

Then the storms hit! It rained sooooo hard. We enduring it for a while then managed to find this rock ledge to give us a break from the pounding rain.

Another little cave we discovered right before another torrential downpour

Just in case you thought we lost Andrea long the way....she once again thought nap time was more important.

Okay, we did had some great fires and enjoy some good smores. Brayden found a little friend and played endless baseball and football. Andrea enjoyed riding around the campground on Grandpa's bike waving to all the onlookers. Becca loved her time with Grandma, singing songs and playing candy land.

For anyone thinking of having an adventure in Missouri unless you plan on getting multiple tatoo's, crude language, taking up smoking, drinking at 9am and getting a great beer gut I suggest you advoid this place!
