Games

Today was one of those days where I had no plans, so we spent the day just hanging out. Something the kids love. We decided to get out the chutes and ladders game. Once again Brayden was set on winning-always having to be first. Would you believe that for most of the game he was ahead, he would concentrate so hard before each spin and count very deliberately. Becca on the other hand would do about 5 spins and then if no one helped her she would just randomly move her game piece. It just so happened that at the very end she hit the ladder directly to the winner's square. Brayden fell to pieces, he just couldn't believe why Becca had won and he was ahead of everyone's game pieces. The funny thing was Becca didn't really care and was being her sweet self and saying "it's okay, it's okay" Brayden was so sad that in the midst of his melt down he started crying about having to go pee... so off he runs, crying to the potty, continued to cry in the potty, and back again. So, I thought that we could keep playing for second place. Bad idea-the last row to the winner's square has three slides, which we both kept hitting..and he kept crying. Honestly I had had it with this game but decided I couldn't quite because what example would that be for Brayden. I actually finally let him spin a couple time in a row, skip a couple and managed to rig a second place win just to make the game end. I think we need to stick to candy land or memory-for my sanity and the kids!
