It is always nice to have outside influence from others to help guide our kids. I am so thankful for our teachers at school. The counselor this month challenged some kids to see if they could make a difference in someones life with just one dollar. It wasn't about the money but the difference that just one person could make in someones life. Such a great lessen for our entire family. How refreshing to make a effort to take our eyes and thoughts off ourselves and focus on others. Amazing how peaceful/fulfilling this can be and so easy to do, but so hard to live by day to day!
Becca loves making others happy, this was the perfect project for her. She had just learned how to make bookmarks in her AHG class. Perfect, as we have plenty extra fabric, ribbon and odds and ends to make a few more to give away. Becca sewed and decorated about 7 bookmarks and made a bunch of cards to pass out with them. I love seeing what she writes...Have a grate day! Have a good time reading your book. One card had a bunch of random numbers on it?? Anyway, we took them all to a nursing home and passed them out to some very special ladies. I think they loved seeing the kids as much as getting her cards and bookmarks. The lady who got her card with the numbers got such a kick out of it, she wanted to know if Becca was sending her a message in code. They were all so grateful and more than one stated that the kids had just made her day. Such a great example to the kids...what really matters, definitely not their needs, but just taking the time to care for others-even a smile goes a long way! Congrats to Becca and her counselor for refocusing us during this busy season!
