Chasing the ball

The weekend is winding down and instead of feeling rested and ready for another week I feel like somehow we just missed the weekend.  It isn't like we have not had a lot of fun just that the schedule for the past couple days seemed to have just exploded.  Funny thing is that if I look back it seems to happen every year.  So many fun and wonderful activities...not quite sure why they all seem to start at the same time!  The past couple days we have been chasing the ball-literally.  Andrea started soccer Friday-the pick patriots!! how different girls are than boys!  Practice was a bunch of little girls giggling and doing cartwheels-much different from the endless belching and pushing/shoving found in the boys practice.  The girls had a pre-season game today and wow did they have fun, some have played and some have not so it is funny watching them learn to play...or rather kick a ball, many kicks with misses along with kicks resulting in a fall.  Scoring was such a highlight-what screams.  Anyway, Andrea powered through the game-definitely her thing...no thumb sucking and sulking which she is so good at these days.
Brayden in the other hand is back into baseball-chasing another ball.  He continues to work on pitching and the basics.  Today was a scrimmage which he was pretty happy about-two hours is a long time to practice out on the field.  We are so blessed to have a great coach who manages to find a balance of having the practice be fun but still challenging. So hard to find a happy medium between rec ball and competition play as he gets older.   Saturday the coach had the boys signed up for a dodge-ball tournament.  Right up their league!  They lost and ended up in the losers bracket and then slowly worked back to the top only to get taken out by the girls team...I must say I was cheering for those girls.  They were tough and winning because they were the only ones to really work as a team.  Fun time once again chasing a ball.
Saturday beautiful sunny, warm. I didn't' care if doors where open, the fresh air was so refreshing.  After all the morning excitement inside we decided to head out on our bikes and ended up at a school park close by.  The kids have been playing a new game during recess called "wall ball"  and just so happened that the school park had a practice tennis wall that worked perfect for the new game.  Brayden and Becca taught Andrea and I and so once again we were chasing and running to and from a ball....and having lots of fun.
I have to say we all had a great time doing all these fun activities, even if they are tiring.  Brayden also had his first bible study with some boys from his grade-a  great experience for him and myself.  Also learning and looking forward to friendships and surrounding ourselves with family's of like mind, something that I am finding takes work here in OK!
Becca continues to be her content self and loves coming along and mothering James, although she was pretty tough at wall ball!  Today she challenged her AHG group to spread kindness with only a dollar, something she was challenged by her school counselor.  The group was making bookmarks with fabric scraps and she plans to pass hers on to some friends at a nursing home.
Right now we are done chasing the ball and on to chasing homework!  Becca learned about the short month of Feb and we are realizing the downfalls as book reports are due a whole lot sooner than anticipated!!
No pictures...It was just me chasing the kids yesterday as Ron put on some major miles with the Young Life biking team.  Wonderful group, once again takes an effort but worth it...although he is a bit sore!
