Strange Nights

You would think that without a nursing baby in the house that the evenings would be fairly quiet.  Normally this is the case but the past couple of evenings have given me a reminder at what those nights used to be....no fun and exhausting, although this time around I find them a little amusing.  First I have James.  Normally a wondering sleeper, when he is not sick.  Cold season has hit and the other night I woke up to James yelling about something not working.  I went  in to check on him and he looks up at me and cry's..."nose doesn't work"  Anyway, still sucking on a pacifier (yes, I love my sleep to much to take it away) makes for a long night when congestion sets in.  Then a couple nights later I find myself up in the middle of the night fixing a play mobile motorcycle in the middle of the night...who plays with toys at 3am?
Becca is next on the list of strange evenings.  One evening Ron and I were reading in bed and I heard footsteps in the hallway.  Of course Ron looked at me like I was crazy so I tried to convince myself it was only kitty (although she must have gained 20lbs to sound like that!)  Next thing I heard is the door to the garage open-super squeaky, I know what I heard....Ron actually made it out of bed to go investigate.  What did he find?  Thankfully no robber, just Becca dressed in Pj's sitting in the back of the car-obviously sleep walking.  I have no clue what she was doing, but had decided to get up and make a beeline for the car.  Maybe we have been making too many errands lately.  Then the other evening  I find her standing next to my bed, sounding so sad she tells me "I just can't sleep tonight....I have nothing to dream"  She had to be sleeping since it was at least midnight but after thinking up a dream about an ice-skater she was back in bed.
Last is Andrea.  Colds are back and runny noses are just a pain.  Once again I found two little girls standing over my side of the bed (Ron chose his side of the bed for a reason!).  Andrea is crying and tells me that she just can't sleep and has been blowing her nose ALL NIGHT (it's like 3am)  I know she doesn't has any tissues so I asked what she blew her nose in....I am thinking her blankets and pillow case are going to be in need of some serious washing.  So off we go...again and tuck everyone back in.
So I don't know what is worse....hearing kids get sick in the middle of the night, finding them wandering through the house, checking on random fits of yelling/crying or waking up to little faces in your face with complaints about anything and everything keeping them from sleeping.  Thankfully these are all happening less and less making me able to laugh about each one a little more.
