Becca's 7th Birthday Celebration

Becca has been sooo excited about her birthday.  She was full of smiles all week and every day at school pick up she would fling open the van door and announce how many more days till her birthday....I think she would think about it all afternoon.  Friday morning we were off to school with a stop at a special donut store-Becca was all about having her donut filled with Angel Cream icing...James was content with a santa (bright red frosting, which ended up all over his face).   I have not made it to school for lunch this year and today was the perfect opportunity.  Becca requested Sonic-corn dog!  She was all shy smiles when she saw James and I, although James was more of a hit with the kids.  I could eat with all the kids but still had dividing my time between them all...mostly because all their friends had a ton to talk about to me-one of Becca's little classmate even lost a tooth right next to me.  So funny to see his reaction, and then mine as to what I was supposed to do with the tooth?  Friday evening was spent opening presents and then enjoying dinner and cake with friends.  It is hard to believe how grown up she is becoming, but still fun to see her little girl spirit and excitement shine through.
 Fun with friends at lunch.

The many faces of Becca when opening her gifts.  So fun to have packages addressed to her come in the mail!

Becca requested a blue cake....she told me that blue was not just a boys color because it was her favorite color.

Saturday after an early morning basketball game we headed out to the ice-rink.  How the years fly by!  This was  the first year in a while when both Ron and I could get out of the ice together-I still am a little nervous about skating behind/or playing around with the kids but we still had a bunch of fun.  Brayden was big into making snow/ice balls.  Andrea hung on for dear life to the side but steadily made her way around the rink time after time.  Becca was able to skate a bit by her self at the end.  Mostly we all had a great time watching each other fall.  Becca told me she liked watching all the adults fall.....yes, lots of us Ok folk can't skate.  Best of all was watching Ron effortlessly zoom around the ice!
We ended the evening at Carrabas.  An Italian restaurant-Becca's choice. ( We did make a quick stop at chucky-cheese...not much to say but ahhhh, too crazy for me!)  I don't think we have eaten there since her last birthday request, but I won't complain as the food is super yummy.  The kids love it because they each get a piece of dough before the meal to play and shape which they then bake for them...a highlight of the meal.

We had tons of fun celebrating with her Friday night!! The years are just flying by!! I smiled big when I read her reason for requesting a blue cake. Happy to hear she came around to liking "blue", as I remember one time when K told her that blue was her favorite color, Becca said something about blue being just for boys--I think she was envisioning BLUE BLUE...but Katherine's favorite color is blue, and not the boy blue, but that girl blue. Both girls have great taste...I like blue too (the girly blue :)) Love it!

Thanks for sharing! Happy birthday Becca. I love the pics of her expressions. Two of them TOTALLY remind me of you and of some pics of you when you were little. So cute. So fun that you could go ice skating too. Can't wait to spend time with all of you next week :)
