A couple weeks ago the kids School had a big fun night planned-Metro Bash, it was a rain out and rescheduled for this Friday. Once again a huge rain event...and cold! Instead of rescheduling they decided to hold it all inside. It was a mad house. I think every parent walking into the school had an immediate glaze look come over their faces, all three gyms were packed with kids, blow-ups, games, food tables...and kids. The only way I could find the kids was to climb the bleaches and over look the madness, and it didn't help they were all wearing spirit shirts that all look alike. The kids had a blast-time to just run with kids. Once again I am forced to work at letting go, the older kids just ran with friends, no need for parents to walk around with them anymore. They giggled, got tattoos did silly photo-booth pictures and were just in general silly kids.
After all this "fun" we ended up staying for a bit of the homecoming football game. Not my choice but it was just more time for the kids to play and have fun. Brayden sat front and center...right next to the band, we couldn't convince him to move-it was the "best" spot according to him. Sitting and watching didn't last long when he spotting friends and was off playing-infection, a tag game. The girls somehow managed to make it to the pole volt pad before getting kicked off to play gymnastics. It was a fun day and a long night as the girls ended up having a sleepover, I think were all still giggling and talking at 11:30!
Needless to say Saturday, everyone was a bit crabby. Thankfully we didn't have an early soccer game, mainly because the kids and us needed a bit of a slow morning and once again it was cold and rainy. Brayden did have a game later in the afternoon. I headed off to the museum to enjoy the afternoon there with the rest of the kids-crafts, music (the Tulsa Childrens Choir performed) and free admission always makes for a relaxing afternoon, although I missed Brayden having a great game according to Ron.
We finished off the weekend with the Adventure Race. Ron does the mapping for this race and so it is fun to participate. This year Ron had some free entry's so some friends also races. It is a team event, so Ron and Brayden ran/biked along with friends from baseball along with the James brothers. It was cold but the rain held off.
It is a smaller race-this is everyone before heading out.
After completing the fun stuff it is off to run in the woods. They ran a 3.5 mile loop at Turkey Mt.
We found them at the top...in the middle of our donut break.
After running it was time to grab the bikes and bike a 6mile loop on Turkey Mountain.
For the third loop you could either run or bike again. The boys decided to bike. Ron and Brayden picked up the pace after a slow start and caught their buddies for the last loop together. It is so fun to see these boys together. Both are super competative but always have a smile on their face.
This is what we do while we wait...fool around!
They all finished! You would think they would have been a bit tired-almost three hours of racing. The boys were back on their bikes while we waited for the awards.
Brayden ended up with a nice back-pack, a fun morning!
