A Day Away

Today was just the perfect spring day, lots of sun but still not unbearably hot. Ron has been drilling and had thought was going to be out at a well today. Typical drilling-unpredictable actually turned out to be great for us and we all were able to enjoy a wonderful day together. So instead of staying home and doing all the yard work we headed out to Greenleaf State Park. The kids had a ton of fun. Today the theme seemed to be snakes...not my preference at all. There was a talk on snakes and then they actually fed all the snakes in the nature hut. I saw one snake strike and that was enough for me. One actually struck the glass and made Becca jump and fall...she headed out to join me outside shortly after. It still gives me the shivers!! Ron took the canoe and fishing gear which Brayden was all excited about. Sorry to say after much fishing the end result was no fish. Even after Brayden convinced Ron into a supposed hot spot on the lake. He also convinced Ron to beach the canoe on the opposite end of the lake only to discover TWO big snakes all curled up under some ledges....which I guess Ron had just walked by. Thank goodness Brayden was looking around. Turned out to be some poisonous water moccasins that were definitely NOT friendly. I am sure glad I was not there, you would have heard me scream and seen me sprint for that canoe! It was amazing how fast the day flew by, definitely worth getting out and enjoying time away. And Yes, we couldn't leave the huge town of Beggs without a stop at the Malt shop.

The kids got to go on a wagon ride around the park, some interesting history to all the buildings and cabins built on the property.

The girls missed out on the big snake sighting, but got nice canoe ride instead. Thankfully no one tipped. Becca and I saw a family totally flip right in front of our spot-funny and scary at the same time. I just couldn't figure out how they flipped the thing??? Ron talked to them later in the day and was told that a goose was guarding her nest and attacked them and the canoe, making them flip? Sounds crazy, but I guess that goose meant business!

A little catch anyone-my rule, NO GROUNDERS PLEASE!

You can guess what the kids favorite thing was at the playground.

Hmmmm, what happened to my little girly girl. She discovered worms weren't so scary today. She would just laugh and laugh. Andrea was not so sure, she would hold them but the instant they would move she would jump and drop them.

Smiles even if no fish were caught.
