Labor Day Get Away.

When ever Labor Day rolls around each year I always seem to think that fall should be arriving and tend to dream about camping while staying cozy around a camp fire.  Reality is ALWAYS....HOT, and this year was no exception.  Camping was off the table and most activity outdoors was just plain uncomfortable, which is not too nice seeing as that is what we love to do.  Actually being outdoors is just more enjoyable because the kids can be kids and we can relax a bit.  This year we decided to head out to Bentenville Arkansas.  Yes...Walmart city.  Okay, say what you want about Walmart but this town is AWESOME!!  Parks, paths, mountain bike trails-Walmart has really done a number for this town and we enjoyed exploring.

We spent most of the afternoons staying cool on Beaver lake.  This spot is lots of fun, the water is super clear and I think the kids could jump all day.  If the kids do tire out we just floated out in the water watching all the crazy people.  Lots of boaters and then a lot of people jumping from up above-crazy high!

Ron and Brayden explored some of the Mountain Bike trail while the rest of us explored the paths around the crystal bridge museum and surrounding gardens.  We even saw some deer-shocker with all the people around.

There was a fun path for biking with lots of bridges and this teeter totter.

Outside the museum there was a path call the Art Path, it had a bunch of fun and unique sculptures along it.  Turtle for a turtle!

The kids found a lot of turtles along the paths.  This town is the headquarters for Walmart and they have provided a lot for this community.  We toured the Crystal Bridges Museum-sponsored by who else Walmart!...we were all in agreement that 19th and 20th century art is a bit odd.

We had to visit the original 5 and 10 store that was the beginning of the Walmart stores-they had a complete time line of the store from it's start.  Amazing to see what it took and the drive and vision Sam Walton had for his grocery stores.

Looks like you had a great family time. Did you take any of the turtles home?
