Time for some VBS

Last week all the kids went to VBS...hard to believe this was Brayden's last year to participate as a kid, next year if he goes he will have to do so as a volunteer.  Part of me wishes he was able to volunteer this year.  Being crazy and acting silly or cool can get a little much for the crew leaders...a little responsibility goes a long way with those older kids.  Anyway, I found crew leading is the best and loved getting to hang out with some fun 2nd graders.  Turned out we had a group of Metro kids who all knew each other already in our crew.  It was a fun week...full of MOVING!  lots of water fun.  I loved how simple the stories were and that the only craft we worked on was a Faith Journal which the kids loved-sometimes simple is better.  I did get a crash course is what to watch on UTUBE??  Easy entertainment for kids waiting for parents.  Crazy dancing and pets were involved in many of them??

THE MONKEY...got everyone moving!

Crazy UTUBE....Thanks Evian for these skating babies

Want to be young? More crazy UTUBE

Okay, I will spare you on the links....there are many more crazy ones,  Who comes up with some of this stuff is beyond me?

MOVE...LET IT BE KNOWN!

I didn't take any pictures during the week...but we had a crew with us each day, usually ending up with some staying  to cool down and play for the afternoon.  The kids had a blast...I loved seeing them just be kids but it sure is tiring.  The pool was flooded with activity last week.  I think one day we had three separate groups/family's swim.  Becca, who loves to swim actually told me as we were getting out around 9pm that she was done....we had been down at the pool since one, everyone was a bit water logged that day.  But so thankful for a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy with friends.

Ron and I actually found a live turtle on one of our morning bike rides...most all we have seen have been dead this year.  So far this guy is surviving-the kid love playing with it.

James loves the water, all the kids have been obssessed with these goggles this year-its just nice not seeing Andrea plug her nose all the time.

The afternoons are sweltering-the humidity thanks to all the rain almost makes it hard to breath.  Lilly gets so hot and hates being inside away from the acitivity so we got her a pool....which she hates....it took me lifting her up to get a couple paws in before she wrangled away from me and the pool-crazy dog.

Summer is never complete until all shopping is done with four kids-it can be nuts, I think the workers were praying we would leave the store this evening.

The fifth and six graders are having some pool parties this summer-a couple weeks ago it was at our house.  This was before the heat wave set in and we had a couple days of rain...I think the pool water was warmer than the air that night and I wasn't sure if any kids were going to come.  Turned out a nice group of kids came and spent a lot of time shooting hoops and playing capture the flag.

The aquarium is always fun to get out of the heat.  The neighbor kids have been around some weeks-always a nice thing but also can get a little long at the same time.

You can never have enough snow cones or slushy's...seems like a daily request.

This past weekend we survived the heat by heading out to the blue hole.  Cool water rushing into a deep hole makes for a refreshing afternoon.  There was a ton of people but everyone just find spots along the river and hangs out.  Thankfully we found some shade and a table making for a great spot to hang out for the day.

The kids love just looking for minnows, crawfish and any other creepy things in the water.

A brief moment when both are smiling and not beating up on eachother.

Ron's favorite spot.

Lastly the girls have been playing a lot with their dolls.  Other than swimming they spend a lot of time inside.  It amazes me how they can stay busy upstairs.  I say playing with their dolls but most of the time it is coming up with stuff for them, ad their dolls are just laying on the bed.  There are two entire rooms upstairs complete with five stations for their dolls...camping station, gymnastics station, school station,  each complete with everything you could imagine you would need...pencils made from toothpicks, tiny books-bookshelves, small balence beam.... Today they found frames to decorate and needed pictures.

Love it that you are enjoying so much time with kids at the pool. They are going to be great swimmers! Love the pic of the girls with their dolls too. See you soon!
