Time just doesn't slow down and this summer has been no exception. We didn't take any big trips this year, besides our usually trip to MI or mini-vacations but somehow our time flew by. I know the kids have to learn but somehow just hanging out and having fun is so much more fulfilling than sticking to a school schedule and requirements. I am going to miss having them around during the day as now I really do not have any excuse as to why the laundry is not done!!
James is going to go three days a week. He was soooo excited to see Mrs Oxenham. It will be a very special year with her. It is so hard to believe James is old enough to go when he spent a good portion of his time in her classroom already in a baby carrier!
Andrea has a new teacher to Metro Mrs Lowe, First grade. Mrs Lowe was all smiles and had her room decorated with lots of fun stuff. Andrea was the most excited to go to class this morning-although was a little upset when she found someone had hung their backpack on her hook. The little stuff always throws her a bit but my "go with the flow" Becca helped calm her down and just told her to move the backpack over one-no big deal.
Brayden has Mrs Lee for Fourth grade. He will rotate between four teachers this year and has a big trapper keeper to keep all his stuff in....lots of grumbling from parents. I am not sure how long his folder will last. I envision him swinging it around by the shoulder strap and stuff flying everywhere-independence is such a lofty goal! He was excited but quiet, sitting at his desk with all his supplies ready to go by the time I finally made it to his class.
Becca has Mrs Huckett for third grade. She was the quietest of all the kids. She had a brave smile on her face but not so happy in heart. She was split from her sweet friend this year and I know was missing seeing her in her class. Third grade is a big year and I know will be a lot of learning for her-school work, here we come.
I hope the teachers are ready for this fun crew-they can talk your ear off, makes her smile and scream all at the same time!
I love starting out the year hearing the kids sing Amazing Grace-such a blessing to have my kids surrounded by teachers striving to teach my kids the love of Christ along with their studies. Rachel's Challenge is once again in place and I love seeing the students motivated to love all their classmates.
