A SPECIAL EVENING

I  know as well as Ron that we can surround our children with all the biblical influences possible but only the Lord is truly in control of their life and life decisions.  I do love seeing them grow in the understanding of who the Lord is personally to them, for them to start taking some of the bible verses, bible stories they learn ever week and and actually start understanding what they are saying, has been so special. To see them develop this ability to relate God's word to real life is amazing.   Brayden has talked about asking Jesus into his heart for the past year.  It sounds bad but I have put off praying with him because I questioned his motives???  but then again sometimes we do things with the wrong motives or incorrect intentions and that is God's plan.  So when Becca started talking about also wanting Jesus into her heart I decided to take hold of this special time (she kept saying she like looking at the stars at night because it made her think of Jesus coming into her heart....only Becca).  So many time I think circumstances and our need to rationalize and make sence of life hinders us from experiencing some of the most special moments God intends us to receive.  Talking with both of then about what it means to have Jesus in your heart just made my heart at peace with life.  When life seems like such a struggle to keep every thought, motive geared to that of Jesus and his teachings hearing the kids describe the love of Jesus in the simplest and most basic terms was to say the leas,t refreshing.  Brayden is very much boy and sticks with what he has been taught and not a lot more.  Becca on the other hand likes to elaborate...such as how Jesus is always with us, even on the playground when no one is playing with us.. It made my heart full to hear them describe what Jesus has done for them and to see their desire to learn more about him and his ways.  They both received their own Bible, and how exciting it was to see them take their bible and right away start looking up passages they had been taught.  I am so thankful for wonderful teachers who are getting them comfortable with the Bible as a book to read.  Brayden had his highlighter and was finding verses he had learned at church and when I reminded him to just highlight parts of the verse that stand out to you....or that are important, he looked up at said "it's all important!"  True!  sometimes this controlling mommy just needs to take and step back and soak in these moments and forget about the pressures and stresses of this earthly life.  This is a marker in the kids life as they continue in their learning and growing to be children of God.  I can only pray that they continue to look to Gods word and his promises, making them their own.

Such a great thing to read. Tell them we are so happy! What a special night-you will never forget it. I love the simple faith of a child.
