A FULL COUPLE DAYS

For the past month we have been having some pretty slow weeks and weekends. So, it has been so much fun to have a weekend full of fun and different things to do. Ron's parents drove into town on Fri-complete with our new Mini-Van. Yes, we are now equipted to tote around four kido's. The kids were super excited. Becca was all ready to play babies and had lined up all her horses all ready to play with Grandma. Brayden was full of smiles when Grandma walked into his class on Fri-they all love the extra attention. Now, all I here is...."I want Grandma to do it" Andrea was adamant that Grandma pull her panties up-crazy! It turned out that this was a weekend that Ron was planning on riding a mountain bike race out in Arkansas. It worked out great with family here so Ron and I were able to head out just the two of us. Time away from the house and family duties no matter how short was soooo refreshing. Ron had a 60plus mile ride on the Oachita and Womble Trails. It was a beautiful day and Ron had a great ride till about mile 45. Sad to say he didn't cross the finish line but he did finish the day without having to make a trip to the local ER.

All ready to ride-the mood was full of excitement...everyone was ready to roll. Much different at 2pm when we rolled back to the start/finish. Most riders who were off the course were passed out in their cars or were walking gingerly around looking for food or water.

The pack was off-they started on the road but headed onto the trail pretty quickly.

The first check mark...and still smiling.

Ron, making his way into another aid station. It was a great day, a little cool breeze but beautiful warm sunshine. Ron was full of mud by the time his body was done but thankfully no huge scrapes. One big wipe out early on and one wet water crossing but still able to end in one piece just not quite to the finish line.

One picture of the two new babies in our small group. We were finally able to all get together and celebrate their birth, about 2 months after the fact. Babies are in the air as Sharon has also welcomed a baby girl to their family-Megan Ellen!

Well what's the story???why didn't he finish the race?

Well, when you see him not sweating and having a hard time communicating and him getting off his bike and just wanting to sit/or rest in his words......it is time to quit! His typical dehydration delemma that he faces with longer races.
