RACE DAY

Today was the big day. Everyone was up at 6am-who runs this early in the morning??? The 10km started at 7:30, I think it was about 40 degree's out-COLD. The kids went in their PJ's, first because they were still dead to the world at that time of morning and second, they were about the warmest clothes we had along. My race (10km) went well, although it was very crowded, over two thousand runners, so it was very hard to run at a steady pace until the last two miles of the race. Ron's race (25km) started at 8am, with over four thousand runners it was a huge race. Funny thing-as he was running he heard some one yelling for his sister, turned out she was just a couple of steps behind him, and he actually finished the race with his other sister Tracy. It was a hard race for him-the first split was great and right on time, the second split was another issue, one he never figured out. I was just glad he was upright at the end of the race and functioning! It was lots of fun to watch with the kids and family, and a great way to start the day. The kids busied themselves with donuts, suckers and lots of dirt-they were a MESS, but they did great watching and cheering for 2 hours. Congratulations to all the runner's out there-some amazing times!

Race Results-Ron Haveman 25km
Amy DeKruyter 25km
