We headed to the Kiddie Park in Bartlesville to have some fun just for James-a late birthday outing. It was a little sad to think that this might be our last time coming as most of the rides were too big for the kids. James had a lot of fun-the rollercoaster was still a big hit for everyone.
The big kids could do the spinners...it was a little too much for Andrea, made her stomach feel sick.
We also decided to check out a Roughnecks soccer game for James' birthday. The actually turn the drillers baseball field/stadium into a soccer field. It was amazing to see these guys play-rough, fast and HUGE goal kicks.
The kids love to have lunch picnics out on the porch...we will see if this continues as the summer heat is settling in.
They all completed swimming lessons. Andrea made the most progress this year. Not hanging on the side of the pool crying. She figured it out this year and was swimming back and forth with the big kids. So proud to see her growing and getting over her fears.
The girls had their year end Court of Awards for the American Heritage Group. We weren't sure about going but the kids decided it would be a good way to end their year and ....of course get their badges they earned. I am amazed as some of the time these girls and parents put into working on badges. I wonder if its the girls desire or the parents. As usual I am not one of those parents....over achievers never sit well with me!
We tried to catch some fish on the free fishing day put on by News on 6...ponds are stocked, fish are tagged and the tables were loaded with prizes. THIS TINY FISH was the only thing we caught! It was a long 2-3 hours. The water was high and lets just say we had a lot of broken/snagged lines in the trees/weeds that were in the water. Maybe it will be better next year.
Ron and I did manage to catch a couple fish on Zenergy's Fun day. A full day of fishing...meaning on the water by 7 and not having a single bite till the last hour-11am! Of the course the guide went on and on about how this never happens and we would just hit on a group and we could be up to 20...needless to say we did not win the prize for boat with the most caught fish!
Spending time with friends and in the pool is what the summer has been about. Andrea had a blast last week swimming and hanging out with some girls from school. It was so fun to see her grow in her person when the older two where gone. James was her little side-kick for the week. At one point she wanted to just play in her room without him...he was devastated.
I miss ephie a lot with all this busyness around the house, but I have to say it is easier with lilly as she loves anyone and everyone who comes to the house. She is by no means a guard dog and usually doesn't even get up if the door dings?! But this does make it easier with kids at the house.
Last but not least we enjoyed a weekend Tulsa Rough bike races. Becca and Brayden were pretty tired from camp but still fun to get out and watch these racers. As usual we did have some rain...actually a HUGE downpour, some crashes but overall lots of fun.
These three raced in the kids races on Sat. It was quite hot but they did awesome. James was excited about getting fifth place. Andrea peddles like mad and makes a race out of it. Becca still goes along at her own pace with a smile the whole way.
This was Sunday afternoon-blazing heat...trying to find a little shade. What we didn't know was that in five minutes there would be a downpour and we would all be freezing.
A cooling downpour, they pulling riders off the course as this hill and turn is just too much when things get wet.
We did the Tulsa Townie ride...no big rides this year for Ron and I. We all made the eight mile course. James with a little help from Ron. The kids did great even with all the hills.
The super rest stop half way was a great motivator...as well and shaved ice's at the end of the ride.
What do you know, Steve Tillford was riding the road warming up as Andrea finished her ride. This man is amazing at what he does!
Thats the update for now, I am sure I have more videos. James came in second in the kids race Sunday-he was pretty proud, just love that grin!
