FRESH BLUEBERRIES

Yesterday was our last day in MI so we decided to head out to the blueberries fields to pick some fresh berries. This was Ron's summer job growing up although I don't know how much picking he did seeing as his big thing to show the kids was how many berries he could fit in his mouth...about 40. Well, he really did do a lot of work and it was fun to see how much the place has grown. We picked at the same farm he and his family grew up picking at. Ron remembers clearing some of the fields that are now full of bushes. Ron's family are great pickers, myself on the other hand am not. I like to just take my time, float from bush to bush-were ever the berries look the best. I managed to pick one bucket full, which to me is pretty good, both Ron and his mom filled up two by the time it took me to fill mine up. Ron used to fill a minimum of 10 buckets when he picked during the summer. Babysitting definitely sounded a lot better.

This is the kids weighing the berries, I think we picked around 40lbs of berries at about $1.25 a pound.

Brayden did really well, and lasted the longest of the kids. His favorite thing was to convince someone to pick some in a bucket then take that bucket and pour it into his-pretty smart!

Andrea did actually pick some berries before she discovered eating was much more fun.

Becca lasted a little while until her shoes got all muddy-we weren't really dressed properly. Her and Andrea had fun tearing apart the car the last 30 min or so.

Brayden, Becca and Grandma with all the berries. We didn't have time to make a blueberry pie before heading back to MI-it will have to be on my to do list amongst all the unpacking.

WOW!! are they sweet?? I bought some MI blueberries here the other day, but I think these must have been picked too early, as they were not the sweet juicy type I love to eat!! Looks like you guys had lots of fun!
